The compulsory education in Russia is free of charge but there are some private primary and secondary schools where parents have to pay for their children studies. The education in colleges, specialized schools and higher educational establishments is fee-based but even there some state-financed openings are provided for applicants. They can study on such conditions after getting the best marks for preliminary examinations or if they have some social benefits. After graduating from such educational establishments students get the Diploma.
Education in Russia is available for everybody. People with different health issues may also get education at some specialized schools for disabled or attending special compensatory classes within regular schools. Their task is to adopt the person to living in a modern society independently. In some cases, children may study at home.
The Russian system of extracurricular education for children is comprehensive. Today the choice of hobbies suitable for everyone is very wide. There is a network of children’s state-founded centers in Russia, where the cultural activities, sports, ecological activities and different clubs take place under one roof. All over the country, there are also dozen of state-run music and art schools, and sport clubs. The activities themselves are either free or available for a minimal monthly charge but children have to buy the required materials (e.g. brushes, paints or sport equipment) for instance. Moreover, there is a wide variety of private language schools, sport clubs, drama and dancing classes where children may get the individual training. The only one their disadvantage is a high price of such education.
