"Easy there" and "take it easy" are both expressions to use when someone it's upset? Are there other ways to express this?

if someone is upset, saying "easy there" or "take it easy" may make them more upset. However, it is appropriate to say if the person is violent or shouting angrily. If someone is upset (as in angry), you can say "hey, calm down. What's going on?" (if they are screaming or throwing things or something). If they are upset (as in sad and crying). You can say, "What's wrong?"
I can't think of any equivalents to "easy there" and "take it easy" other than "calm down", though.
