@Lonn2001 Its a shortened version of ‘hmmm ok’. It’s not very frequently used as the original statement isn’t too long. Dependent on the statement previous it can come across as either passive aggressive or thought provoking.

For example

Person 1: “sorry I can’t come to party tonight, I’m not feeling too well”

Person 2: “mmk”

This comes across as “hmmm ok, I’m not sure how genuine your excuse is but fine”

Or example 2, for more thought provoking

Person 1: “do you know much it costs to get tickets to the concert tonight? Money is a little tight right now so I’m not sure”

Person 2: “I think it’s £80”

Person 1: “mmk”

This is just the person thinking based on the response.
