think of phrases you want to say. if you don't know the words in English, add those to your personal vocabulary list. this will be more helpful than learning words you don't have any immediate use for. movies is also a good idea because they're often everyday language. in that case watch movies in English and write down words you don't understand. add those to your vocabulary list.

単語の意味は使い方によって決まるものです。(逆ではなく。)
本当の意味が知りたければ、現実の使用例をたくさん見ておきたいものです。
また、英文を理解して感情が湧いた時は脳の中で言葉とその意味の連携が強くなります。
Vocab lists can be a good starting point to give you a foundation so that you understand a small portion of the words when you walk in, but vocab lists should not be the main part of the journey.
Or rather, it's a good idea to make your own vocab list as you read/watch! Make it part list, part journal, like "I saw this word used this way".

use both a wordlist (or vocabulary list) and movies, tv shows, books, and conversations. a wordlist (vocabulary list) will help you recognize words that you hear or read in media (media means movies, books, sitcoms/tv shows, and conversations as one word)
