Q: "Mr. Williamson was hoping his suit would be ready at the cleaners', but it wasn't."

In this sentence, what does "cleaners'" mean?
Why is put the apostrophe after the "s"?
A: The cleaners is a place where you wash certain clothes that you can't at home. So, a nice expensive suit, cashmere sweater, etc. I don't actually know why there is an apostrophe after the 's.' I've never seen that before since cleaners is spelled with an s, but also, it's a place. They're not saying something that the cleaners owned, so I don't know.
