It’s all part of the wonderful, nightmarish process of learning a language.
Many people report that for a long time, they get to a certain level and then don’t seem to progress. They study and study and try to remember things, but it doesn’t work. They feel stuck.
Here’s my interpretation of what I think is happening – When you learn a new skill with your body, like surfing or sewing, your body takes time to adjust to the new activity, and for awhile you cannot do it very well. It is the same with learning something like a language – your whole spirit and mentality goes into shock with all the new information. It takes time to adjust. While it seems to you that you are not learning anything, silently, in your brain and in your nerves, you are building the apparatus that you need to deal with this new language.
So keep on learning, and soon you will find that you have made a big advancement. Then you will slow down for awhile again, and then more advancement, and so on.
The experience you have reported is 100% completely normal, which I have heard over and over again from my own students, and from my own experience. So try not to worry.
