Questions about example sentences with, and the definition and usage of "Federation"

Synonyms of "Federation" and their differences

Q: Federation ve Confederation ve Federal Republic ve Union arasındaki fark nedir?
A: We don't use those words very often, but Federation is a political organization/ group that unites to be a stronger body of people. I honestly only think of using that world when talking about countries that have it in their name (or in star wars). Confederation is never really used, but there is the Confederates, who were Southerners from America who seceded (left) the union (United States) during the civil war. Basically the same thing as federation, just means a group that bands together to reach a goal. I also haven't heard the term federal republic, but I can tell you it would have to be a form of government (that is republic). A union is, once again, a group of people who unite, although they tend to be on a smaller scale. A federation could be considered the size of a nation, but a union is a smaller group. There's teachers unions, for example. Sorry that my explanations aren't great, but I hope this helps!
